Siegfried Poblotzki

Siegfried Poblotzki (born May 13, 1917 in Pleystein ; † November 18, 1997 ) was a chemist, car electrician, entrepreneur, graphic artist, painter and local history researcher.

Life

Working life

Siegfried Poblotzki first completed an apprenticeship as a bath and hairdresser. After World War II he trained as a druggist . He worked in his parents' general store. In 1948 he took over the business and converted it into a drugstore .

In 1972 his father-in-law Fritz Walcher died. As a result, the drugstore was closed in 1972. Siegfried Poblotzki and his wife Maria took over his father-in-law's car electrical and armature winding company in Weiden. In order to do justice to this new task, Siegfried Poblotzki trained as a vehicle electrician . In 1975 he passed the journeyman's examination at the age of 58.

family

On February 29, 1947, Siegfried Poblotzki married Maria Walcher, daughter of Fritz Walcher. The couple had a daughter, Maria.

Activities as a local researcher

For his work as a local historian, Siegfried Poblotzki scoured the archives in Amberg , Munich , Vienna and Prague . As a result of this research he wrote detailed chronicles about Pleystein , Moosbach and Waidhaus . He also wrote more than 150 articles on local history in various magazines and numerous festival publications. Bayerischer Rundfunk broadcasts on these topics were handled by him as a freelancer.

Archaeological work

Through numerous finds, Poblotzki was able to prove the Stone Age settlement of the Upper Palatinate. These finds include the discovery of the Hallstatt tombs near Lohma and the finds of Stone Age tools in the Pfreimd valley .

Hobby: painting

In his spare time, Siegfried Poblotzki devoted himself to painting. He made sketches, watercolors and oil paintings in various styles such as B. Naturalism , Impressionism and Cubism . Siegfried Poblotzki had been a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists in Nuremberg since 1950 . An exhibition of his works can be found in the Pleysteiner Stadtmuseum.

  • 1996 Culture Prize of the district of Neustadt for special services to art and culture

In 2007 the Pleystein City Museum set up a permanent exhibition on the life and work of Siegfried Poblotzki.
