Chamber in Capeshøj

The Capeshøj is a great megalithic on Knasterhøjvej, in the farmland of the farm "Skiftekær" in "Ny chanting" on the island of Tåsinge in Denmark . On old cadastral maps the hill is surrounded by “Capes agre”. On newer maps, the entire ridge is called "Knasterhav" (also "Knasterhov").

description

The Neolithic megalithic tomb is a facility of the Funnel Beaker Culture (TBK), which dates back to between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC originated. It was not yet protected when several large stones were removed from the enclosure between 1952 and 1968. A worked piece of flint was found between two of these stones . Several other stone tools were found on and around the facility. Traces of two smaller systems were found about 30.0 m away from the hill.

Capeshøj on Tåsinge is about 40.0 m long and is the largest restored long dyssey in the Funen region . In 1975 the Tåsinge Museum registered Capeshøj, from which a considerable amount of relics come. In 1976-79 the Funen Abbey Museum undertook an excavation in which a single chamber was found.

At the end of the hill, during the Early Bronze Age , around 1000 years later, people dug at least three graves into the hill, which was covered with a layer of pebbles. Archaeologists found a fireplace on this side of the hill, probably from the late Bronze Age. After the archaeological excavations, the restoration of Capeshøj was carried out, and one of the most beautiful monuments in the catchment area of the island of Funen was created.
