history
district Court
In the course of the administrative restructuring of Bavaria , the Amberg district court was established in 1803 . After the founding of the Kingdom of Bavaria , the country was divided into administrative districts, which in turn were subdivided into district courts. The district court Amberg belonged from 1808 to the rain district whose capital was initially Straubing and from 1810 became Regensburg. In 1809, Amberg became a city in the immediate vicinity of a district . In 1838, the Vilseck district court was also formed, to which the municipalities of the previous Amberg district court were added, but which also received places from the Sulzbach district court . In the same year, the Regenkreis was renamed the Upper Palatinate District, following the example of the old duchies. The administrative district of the same name later emerged from this.
District Office
The district office of Amberg was formed in 1862 through the merger of the district courts of the older order Amberg and Vilseck.
On July 1, 1927, the Amberg district office was expanded to include the municipalities of Vilshofen and Winbuch from the Burglengenfeld district office .
district
On January 1, 1939, as everywhere in the German Reich, the designation district was introduced. So the district office became the district of Amberg.
On January 1, 1963, the Amberg district was expanded to include the communities of Adertshausen and Hohenburg in the Parsberg district.
The district thus had 64 communities.
On July 1, 1972, the district of Amberg was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . Most of it merged with the Sulzbach-Rosenberg district in a new, larger Amberg district. The communities Ammersricht, Gailoh , Karmensölden and Raigering were incorporated into the independent city of Amberg.
On May 1, 1973, the new district was given the current name Amberg-Sulzbach district .
