history

Until the church is planted

The beginning of the history of Ursensollen is closely connected to the von Scharfenberg family . This probably settled around the year 1000 on the Scharfenberg, about one kilometer southwest of Ursensollen. In 1144, this noble family and the place Ursensollen were first mentioned. The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark , whose seat was Ursensollen. In the 14th century, a country estate in Ursensollen was notarized. There is evidence that Scharfenberg Castle was destroyed in 1383 . The Scharfenbergers stayed in Ursensollen until around 1550. Their most famous son was the minstrel Albrecht von Scharfenberg , who worked in the second half of the 13th century. His most famous work is Merlin . From the year 1550 the Meringers are known as Lords of Ursensollen. But as early as 1566 a Johan Erckenbrecht was named as the owner. In 1693 the Hofmark Ursensollen was sold to a Johann Jakob Haller von Hallerstein. In 1729 a Johann Michael von Thünefeld was named as the new owner. In 1749 the Hofmark was sold again. The acquirers were the Velhorn brothers. In 1773 they sold their possessions to Hofrat Franz de Paula Knebel. Nine years later there was another change of ownership: the new owner was Ferdinand von Hötzendorf. In 1817 the new owner was called Joseph von Schenkl.

19th century

In 1828 another Franz von Hötzendorf, the son-in-law of the previous one, was named as the owner. His brother-in-law Franz von Schenkl bought the Hofmark back six years later and with him the line of the local noble families ended in 1838. The first non-aristocratic owner of the Hofmark was government councilor Jakob Windwarth from Amberg. After the lord's death in 1856, the widow sold the buildings and land to the master brewer Mathias Muggenthaler. He set up a brewery and thus established the reputation of Ursensollen beer.
