The listed Roman Catholic branch church of St. Franz Xaverius is located in the Garsdorf district of Ursensollen . The church belongs to the parish community Hausen (Sankt Georg) and Hohenkemnath (Assumption of Mary) in the diocese of Regensburg .

history

The church was built around 1730. Since the town of Garsdorf has been owned by the Jesuit College of Amberg since 1710 , it can be assumed that the church was built by the Jesuits. The church was partially destroyed by lightning in 1841 and rebuilt by 1850.

Construction

The Garsdorf church is a solid building closed on three sides with a gable roof ; it is designed with a simple plaster structure. The hall church has an onion ridge turret . The church was restored in 1990/1991 by the citizens themselves, in the process the whitewashed original murals were exposed again.

Furnishing

The altarpiece shows the dying Franz Xavier on Shangchuan Dao Island off China. In 1770 the church was equipped with a way of the cross ; In 1910 this was exchanged for a new one manufactured by the Eugen Starr company in Munich ; also in 1967. In 1796 the parish of Garsdorf had a double-sided votive picture hung up in the church because of a rampant cattle disease .

Bells

In 1856 the 22 pound bell that had cracked was cast over and enlarged to 62 pounds. In 1909 the church received two bells, donated by the citizens of Garsdorf. During World War II , a bell was adopted for war purposes; April 24, 1950, new bell was benediziert .
