history
Gibbach was first mentioned in a document in 1138. The settlement is likely to be due to a Franconian foundation in the 9th century. In 1974, when the parish church of St. Martin was being rebuilt, the remains of a previous building were found, which could possibly come from the Carolingian period (751 to 911 AD). The simple hall structure with the retracted apse is likely to be one of the oldest archaeologically researched church foundations in the Upper Palatinate . In the High Middle Ages, at the time of Bishop Otto I in the 12th century, there were close relationships between Gibbsbach and the Bamberg Bishop's Church. In the 12th century, a ministerial of the Bamberg bishop held office in Gibbach. The basic rule of the Bambergs was exercised by the monastery checking .
In 1808, through laws and decrees of the Bavarian state, Lassenbach was assigned to the political municipality and the district court of Amberg and thus to the Naab district . After the Naabkreis was dissolved in favor of the Mainkreis and the Regenkreis in 1810, Lassenbach was assigned to the Regenkreis together with the Amberg District Court (from 1838 Oberpfalz and Regensburg).
In 1838, including the communities of Adlholz , Ehenfeld , Gressenwöhr , Großschönbrunn , Hahnbach , Iber , Irlbach , Langenbruck, Massenricht , Schlicht, Seugast , Sigl, Süß, Vilseck and Weißenberg, were separated from the Amberg district court and assigned to the new Vilseck district court.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 651 to 900 by 249 inhabitants or by 38.3% - the highest percentage increase in the district in the period mentioned.

Meaning of the coat of arms symbols
The paw cross is the heraldic badgeprüfungings, the sloping bar comes from the Bamberg coat of arms. Both symbols represent the historical relationship of Gibbach with Bamberg and the convent. The wavy bar speaks for the place name part -bach and the golden color of the head of the shield from the coat of arms of Hahnbach reminds that Gibbach was part of the Vogtei Hahnbach for a long time.
