Kümmersbruck is a municipality in the south-eastern part of the Upper Palatinate district of Amberg-Sulzbach . The place is five kilometers southeast of Amberg and is traversed by the Vils , into which the Krumbach flows in the west.

history
Kümmersbruck was mentioned for the first time in 1114, the district of Theuern as early as 1092. The village of Kümmersbruck was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark of the Lords of Grienagel.
Incorporations
The former municipality of Theuern was incorporated into the municipality of Köfering on April 1, 1971 . On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Köfering was renamed Kümmersbruck and the previously independent municipality of Gärmersdorf was incorporated into Kümmersbruck. In recent years the population has increased sharply due to the designation of building areas. Kümmersbruck is a popular community because of its proximity to Amberg . On September 1, 2015, the municipality-free area of Hirschwald was dissolved . A part was incorporated into the municipality of Kümmersbruck.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 7,755 to 9,867 by 2,112 inhabitants or 27.2%. On December 31, 2004 the community had 10,364 inhabitants.

Municipal council
The municipal council has 20 seats. The mayor has another seat and is the chairman of the municipal council. In the local elections on March 15, 2020, 4,722 of the 8,127 residents eligible to vote in the municipality of Kümmersbruck exercised their right to vote, bringing the turnout to 58.10%.

The description of the municipal coat of arms, introduced in 1972, reads: "In silver a leaping red stag, below a red heraldic rose in front."
Town twinning
The municipality of Kümmersbruck has been twinned with Holýšov in the Czech Republic since 1992 . There has been a regular youth exchange since 2005.
Culture and sights
In 1978, the district of Theuern set up the East Bavaria Mining and Industry Museum , which shows exhibits from the mining and industrial history of the East Bavarian region.
At the moated castle in Moos, the defensive structures of smaller aristocratic residences in the late Middle Ages can be seen despite being Baroque. The moat was only drained in the 20th century. On Castle Moos to let Elector Maximilian after the mountain Battle of White City Amberg passed.
Economy and Transport

The automotive supplier Grammer is a big employer. Since 1960 the community has been the location of a barracks of the Bundeswehr (Schweppermann barracks, named after Seyfried Schweppermann ). The logistics battalion 472 is currently stationed there, which emerged from the mountain transport battalion 83 (since 1994 in Kümmersbruck); In 1992 the tank battalion 124 and 1994 the tank battalion 123 were disbanded. Since 1997, Kümmersbruck has had the outpatient rehabilitation facility and fitness facility MEDIFIT, a Merkl Medisport GmbH company, which has won several regional and national awards.
Jobs
In 2017 there were 2,854 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality. Of the resident population, 4,347 people were in employment that was subject to compulsory insurance. In 2016 there were 42 farms; 1631 hectares of the municipal area were used for agriculture.

State road 2165 runs in north-south direction through the municipality of Kümmersbruck, with which there is a connection to the A 6 , exit Amberg-Süd. In the northeastern municipality, Kümmersbruck is touched by federal highway 85 .
In local public transport, Kümmersbruck is served by the city bus ( Citybus ) on line 409 and by various bus routes operated by the RBO company.
From 1910 to 1985, Kümmersbruck had a connection to the Amberg – Schmidmühlen line through the Haselmühl and Theuern stations and the Lengenfeld stop . The track bed was converted into a cycle path for local recreation.
