Theuern hammer lock
The Castle Theuern is a castle in Theuern in the municipality Kümmersbruck in Amberg-Sulzbach of Bavaria .
history
A von Theuern family can be traced back to the end of the 11th century (1092), which is also the first documented mention of Theuern. In 1482 a castle is mentioned for the first time in a source.
The Portner had owned the hammer property in the area of today's castle since 1518 . In the course of the Counter Reformation , the Portners were expelled from their Hammergut. After the Portners, Andreas von Ruland's widow (1705) and the Lochner von Hüttenbach (from 1709) ran the hammer. On September 17, 1816, Karl Christian von Mann, known as Tiechler, bought the Theuern estate from Countess Sophie von Hirschberg. In 1832 the local ironworks had a blast furnace . The son of von Mann sold the estate to Florian Dorfner on August 28, 1855 . At that time it comprised 1707 daily work, of which 1561 daily work consisted of forests. In 1935 the Dorfner family sold the forest estate including the castle to the Berlin wood wholesaler Breba. Today the property belongs to the Wittmann family.
Theuern Castle today
As early as 1682, a "hunter's house" was built by Johann Georg Portner at the present location of the castle. On August 25, 1780, according to the church book, the foundation stone for the late Baroque castle that still exists today was laid; The client was Joseph Christian von Lochner . The hunter's house from the 17th century was integrated into the new building.
The electoral builder Wolfgang Diller from Amberg was able to be won over for the construction of the Hammerherrenschloss . Several farm buildings were built as early as the 1770s, creating a four-wing complex around a closed inner courtyard. The east facade of the three-storey main building is adorned with a central projection with a triangular gable. The Lochner-Bibra marriage coat of arms is attached to the gable. The massive main portal with pilasters and front gable comes - judging by the style - from the hunter's house built in 1682. Inside, a salon on the first floor with carved Rococo doors has been preserved from the former room decoration next to the staircase with richly carved railing. The castle is a plastered building with a crooked hip roof ; an angled extension with a gable roof probably dates from the 19th century
