The Lower or New Castle of Lintach

The Lower Castle , also called New Castle , is one of two castles in the local area of Lintach in the Bavarian district of Amberg-Sulzbach . It was built in the 17th century and is only 100 meters as the crow flies from the Upper Castle .

history

The castle was built at the beginning of the 17th century and from 1625 it was inhabited for almost 300 years by the old Franconian noble family of Lochner von Hüttenbach .

In the past, the respective castle owners could choose the pastor for the parish from three pastors thanks to the patronage right . The last clergyman to be determined by this right was Pastor Pröls. The last noble owner of the castle, Baron von Frauenberg, canceled this right before he sold the castle to a private citizen in Lintach.

In 2002 Ulrich Schmid from Amberg acquired the Lower Castle and renovated it, including the small park in front of it, based on the historical model.

description

The castle owes its present appearance to the reconstruction and ongoing restorations after a fire in 1931. Its two three-story wings frame a small inner courtyard. The entire facility is surrounded by a moat .
