Franziskaruhe Castle (2015)

The Franziska calm castle , also Lustschloss Franziskaruh called, is a castle in the Upper Palatinate town of Sulzbach-Rosenberg in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach of Bavaria . It is at the foot of the Schlossberg.

history

The building was commissioned by Maria Franziska Dorothea Christina , Countess Palatinate and mother of the future Elector and King Maximilian I Josef of Bavaria . At first she wanted to have a summer salettl built out of Rigel walls and covered with shingles. Her brother-in-law, Elector Karl Theodor , had the building materials procured for her. At the same time a garden was created by the forestry office. The builder was the electoral chief construction inspector Georg Heinrich Dobmeyer. The pavilion appears to have been completed in 1785. The name Franziskaruhe is first used on July 27, 1786. In 1788 the Salettl was enlarged. The building material was probably taken from the Rosenberg castle stable . It is reported that the Countess Palatinate had her carriage brought to her “Schlössl” in six horses.

After the death of the Countess Palatine († on November 15, 1794) the building came into civil hands, presumably through the Amberg government to the Amberg mayor Michael Girisch. The French emigrant Karl von Malcomes bought it from him in 1805. He gave it away on January 18, 1859 to the Rittmeister Baron Julius von Malcomes. He sold it in 1865 to the Nuremberg merchant Hermann Kleeköm. Then it went to the master miller Johann Gering by auction. The Höfer couple from Kulmbach bought it from him in 1875 . The next owner is the royal. Württemberg secret councilor Gustav Siegle. It was bought by the brewery owner Eduard Fentsch from Sulzbach on May 30, 1908 from the Siegel community of heirs. The Maxhütte bought the property on April 26, 1922 .

In 1964 the building was completely renovated. It was used for conference purposes and as a factory casino for employees. In the hall of the "Schlössl" on April 7, 1934 the merger of the communities Sulzbach and Rosenberg was decided. Theatrical performances are also held here.

Construction

The three-wing complex has a central building and two single-storey side wings connected to the east. The central building is a two-storey, plastered solid building with a hipped roof , corner pavilions, drilled brackets and an arbor . The side wings also have hipped roofs.

In the garden there is a garden pavilion, a mansard hipped roof building from 1920 that is opened on two sides via pillars .
