Naoto Matsuo ( Japanese 松尾 直 人 , Matsuo Naoto ; born September 10, 1979 in Wakayama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Matsuo learned to play soccer on the school team at Kindai University Wakayama High School . He signed his first contract in 1998 with Vissel Kobe . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . For the club, he completed 45 first division games. In 2002 he was loaned to the second division club Cerezo Osaka . In July 2002 he returned to Vissel Kobe. For the club, he completed 14 first division games. In August 2004 he was loaned to the league rivals Albirex Niigata . For the club he completed 11 first division games. In 2005 he returned to Vissel Kobe. For the club, he completed 12 top division games. In 2006 he moved to league rivals FC Tokyo . In 2007 he moved to league rivals Albirex Niigata. For the club he completed 63 first division games. In 2010 he moved to league competitor Shonan Bellmare . At the end of the 2010 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League . In 2012 he moved to FC Osaka . At the end of 2013, he ended his career as a football player.
