Allersburg Castle

The castle Allersburg is an Outbound hilltop castle on the mountain church in Allersburg , a district of the market Hohenburg in Amberg-Sulzbach in Bavaria .

history

Allersburg Castle was one of two high medieval aristocratic residences in the parish village of the same name, next to the hilltop castle on the vineyard, the Alarasbach moated castle was located southeast in the Lauterach valley . Probably the Allersburg ministerial family sat on the Allersburg ; they served the Counts of Hohenburg . The first known members of the family are Karl, Seyfried and Ullrich von Allersburg, mentioned in 1210. The family died out during the 14th century, the last members were abbots and priors in the Kastl monastery . The next local lords were the Frickenhofer, also called the Pauren, on April 16, 1342, the Helfenberg Burgmann Ulrich Frickenhofer and his sons Ulrich and Albrecht were named as the Pauren zu Allersburg in a document from the Seligenporten Monastery . The next owners were the Punzinger zum Roßstein , from 1500 then the Lords of Scharfenberg.

The Burgstall is now overbuilt by a fortified cemetery and the local church of St. Michael . The church building probably consists of the remains of the former castle chapel and the churchyard wall of the remains of the former castle wall.
