The Sternsteinberg fortification is located in the Upper Palatinate town of Sulzbach-Rosenberg in the Amberg-Sulzbach district of Bavaria . The facility is located about 1700 m west of the parish church of Sulzbach on the western tip of the Sternsteinberg. The property is managed by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments under monument number D-3-6436-0057 as a "hilltop settlement with section fortifications from prehistoric times".

The western tip of the Sternsteinberg, which slightly towers above the eastern rear area, is separated by a north-south trench of approx. 40 m length. The excavation is discarded to the outside. An earth bridge divides the ditch roughly in the middle.
