The Attracted Reuth Castle is a abgegangenes Castle in the district Attracted Reuth the Upper Palatinate town of Auerbach in the Upper Palatinate in Amberg-Sulzbach of Bavaria . The castle was abandoned at the beginning of the 18th century.

history

The castle was probably built in the 10th century. Zogenreuth had been a Bamberg fief since 1008 . From the 12th to the 15th century, the Zudenreiter or Zukenreuter were named here as the Bamberg Ministeriale . Wolfram von Zuodenruit from 1121 to 1145, who is often mentioned in Bamberg and Michelfelder documents, can be proven as the owner . In 1180 he donated "a woman Seburga together with the descendants of her sons" to the Michelfeld monastery for his salvation; they had to pay the monastery 10 pfennigs a year together. Then Ortunc de Zudenreut is mentioned in 1184, who according to a Michelfeld document is related by marriage to the Knights of Thurndorf . 1309 a nobleman from Zudenreut appears again in the written records, and that year the location of Zudenreut is given to the monastery of Ensdorf for life by the bailiwick of its estates in Troschenreuth and Mühldorf . In 1324 Dietrich von Zudenreut bequeathed a tithe in Göttersdorf to his brother Ulrich, who was a monk in Michelfeld Monastery, in favor of the monastery. A Dietrich von Zudenreut is mentioned in 1362 as the keeper of Thurndorf. Hans Zugenreuter zu Thurndorf and "Ortung von Zudenreut sat zu Rotenberg" (a castle near Schnaittach ) sold their bailiwick in 1373 to the Michelfeld monastery via the village of Hagenohe . Theodorich von Zugenreut was abbot there from 1375 to 1406. The Zogenreuter also played an important role in Auerbach, for example Berthold the Zudenreuter was land clerk there from 1414–34 and Kastner and Hans Zudenreuter 1437–64 land judge. The last of this family was Hans Zudenreuter zu Zudenreut, who belonged to the state parliament committee from 1492–99 as a “chosen” member. In 1496 he founded the family burial place of the von Zudenreut in the women's chapel of the Michelfeld monastery.

In Zogenreuth, Heinrich Stromer von Auerbach followed as owner in 1403, 1507 and 1518 there is an "Alwegen von Haymenhofen zu Zugenreut", 1508 Jörg Stör von Störnstein , 1550 to 1573 Georg von Gravenreuth . In 1573 Soldan von Wilsberg, district judge in Auerbach, is here. Three years later, Zogenreuth was sold on to Abraham von Feilitsch , who in turn handed the estate over to Konrad von Wallenrodt in 1582 . In 1589 the Bamberg nurse von Vilseck Georg Merz Zogenreuth bought 6,000 guilders. From 1598 to 1754 the Lords of Merz von Zogenreuth settled here; they also owned the Hofmark in Alt- and Ober ammerthal for a time . Johann Andrä Mertz died in 1754 without a male heir and the Zogenreuth fiefdom fell back to the Bishop of Bamberg.

Construction

The castle stood at the highest point of a mountain slope on the eastern edge of Zogenreuth. The structure was not particularly large, but it was surrounded by a wall. On the entrance side it was protected by two towers. The castle was built from blue-black iron sandstone and therefore looked very gloomy.

On September 12, 1632, the castle was robbed by Croats during the Thirty Years War , and this was repeated in 1643 when the Swedes looted the castle and the village. It was described as dilapidated as early as 1715 and was demolished in the following years. In 1915, a chronicler only speaks of “a poor ruin” in Zogenreuth.
