The castle ruin Spitz is the ruin of a hilltop castle 410  m above sea level. NHN near Altammerthal, a district of the Ammerthal community in the Amberg-Sulzbach district in Bavaria .

history

The castle was built and mentioned in the 12th century. In 1364 the name Spitz was first mentioned with a "Jordan from the peak to Amertal, Purger to Amberg". The Emhofer family has lived here since 1385 . In 1566 Christian Emhofer zu Schierling and Ammerthal still lives . However, he was only in possession of the allodial part of Altammerthal, because Elector Ludwig had given the old castle to Georg Pirkner for one year in 1519 and to the rentmaster Kaspar Honhammer until further notice in 1526 . Ulrich Erckenbrechtshauser can be found here in 1576, although the Erckenbrechtshauser family also had wealth at Schloss Atzlricht and Schloss Ursensollen . After the Erckenbrechtshauser, Altammerthal came to Wolf Haller von Raitenbuch, who already owned Ammerthal Castle and the Ammerthal Castle he built . So all parts of Ammerthal were in one hand. His son Kaspar Haller had no male heirs and therefore Ammerthal came to Hans Christoph Kronacher via Kaspar Haller's married daughter. He died in 1656 and the inheritance went to his son Hans Siegmund Kronacher. He sold Altammerthal Castle to the mayor Johann Miller, so that two court brands were created again. Johann Miller died in 1658 and his heirs Johann Jakob Miller and Johann Franz Chrisgtoph Miller followed. From the latter's widow Altammerthal came to lieutenant colonel Johann Georg Karl de Moran. In 1728 Georg Justin von Biel is owned by Altammerthal and in 1736 by Jakob von Kronacher. Since he had already followed Hans Siegmund Kronacher in Oberammerthal, the Hofmark was again in one hand. In 1739 the entire Hofmark came to Councilor Marquard Wilhelm von Merz, then to his daughter Christina Sabina, then around 1750 to Councilor Franz Balthasar von Griesenbeck and in 1754 to his heir. In 1780 the Sulzhbach government councilor owned Baron von Fick Altammerthal.

Construction

In 1644 the castle was destroyed in the course of the Thirty Years War .

Remnants of the keep and the circular wall on the east side of the former castle complex are still preserved. Part of the former castle area is built over.
