Section fortification Schweinberg

The Schweinberg section fortification is located in the Aufheim district of the Upper Palatinate market Rieden in the Amberg-Sulzbach district of Bavaria . The section fortification is located 500 m north of Aufheim on the southern tip of the Schweinberg. The property is managed by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments under monument number D-3-6637-0037 as a "rampart of prehistoric and prehistoric or medieval times".

description

On the narrow nose of the Schweinberg there is a circular rampart made of stones without vegetation. The diameter is 28 m and corresponds to the width of the mountain. On the east and west side, the wall runs along the upper edge of the steep drop. Its width is 6 m. On the north-west corner, the system rises to 9 m, here a lost tower is suspected. The system is broken through by a ridge path. It is not known whether there is a connection with the three prehistoric burial sites and burial mounds (monument number D-3-6637-0038, D-3-6637-0035, D-3-6637-0036) in the vicinity.
