The Postal Theuern denotes a Outbound medieval hilltop castle south of Theuern , now a district of the Upper Palatinate municipality Kümmersbruck in Amberg-Sulzbach in the Upper Palatinate of Bavaria . The Burgstall is located 900 m south-southwest of Theuern in the Burgstall corridor.
description
The Burgstall is located on a small protrusion of the Alb plateau into the Vilstal . It has a semicircular wall that is open in the direction of the valley. There are two trenches and a small wall in between. The main wall is partially up to 3.5 m wide and 0.6 m high. The height difference from the bottom of the trench to the edge of the rampart is 0.5 to 1.3 m. In the west, the trenches are crossed by an earth bridge. In the south there is said to have been a wall zingel with a connection to the Burgstall, which is no longer visible in the area today. In the west, two paths have been cut in deep gullies in the slope.
history
The Burgstall could be related to the noble family of the Theuerner , who were mentioned as early as the 12th century. In 1370 a Friedrich and a Hertneid of the Tewner von Tewrn are mentioned in a court document of the Landschranne von Amberg . In 1373 a Hans Kemnather zu Theuern is mentioned, whereby the Theuerer are not yet extinct, but in 1377 and 1401 appears "the earliest vest man Hartneid der Tewner" and after him Ruger the Theuerner and Eberhard von Theuern as fighters against the Hussites . There has been talk of a castle in Theuern since 1482 ; possibly before that the castle was given up as a residence.
