The Bier- und Burgenstraße is a German themed street that runs around 500 km along federal highway 85 from Passau in Bavaria to Bad Frankenhausen in Thuringia .

history

In 1977 the Bier- und Burgenstraße eV association was founded by the Kulmbach innkeeper Günter Limmer and with it the Bier- und Burgenstraße. The first section at that time was the 79 km long Kulmbach– Ludwigsstadt route .

In the following years, new sections of the route were added and the themed road was extended to 478 km. With short detours along federal highway 85, it is 547 km long.

In 2007, the 30th anniversary of the Beer and Castle Road was celebrated .
