Bürgerliches Brauhaus Saalfeld is a brewery from the Thuringian city of Saalfeld. It is located near the train station . In 2016, 47,500 hl of beer and 10,500 hl of non-alcoholic beverages were produced.

history

The brewery was founded in 1892 by the Gütermann family. It has been the only brewery in Saalfeld since 1918. From 1925 to 1948 the brewery is a stock corporation, the majority owner of which is the Riebeck Group. In the last days of the war, the brewery was also destroyed in a bomb attack on the train station on April 9, 1945. From 1948 to 1991 the brewery was state- owned . In the 1970s and 1980s, the Pörzbrauerei Rudolstadt , the Remda brewery and the fairy grottoes were operating parts of the Saalfeld brewery. The Bürgerliches Brauhaus has been in private hands since 1991. A share of 23% is owned by Kulmbacher Brauerei AG . Until the early 1990s, the brewery advertised with the slogan “Generally Preferred” and with the image of the Hoher Schwarm ruin . Since then, the logo has shown the four city ​​gates of Saalfeld.

Awards

Beers have been awarded the World Beer Cup and the European Beer Star several times. In 2014 the Ur-Saalfelder won a gold award at the European Beer Star. In 2016, the brewery won both a bronze award for the Saalfelder Premium and the Ur-Saalfelder at the 2016 World Beer Cup .

The brewery is a member of the Brauring , a cooperation between private breweries from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
