Until the church is planted

For centuries the court brands Steinling, Boden and Edelsfeld were owned by the barons of Steinling zu Boden and Stainling ; with the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803 their property was withdrawn as a church fief. Her coat of arms shows a striding black rooster on three green hills in a golden field. In addition to the line that was based in many places in the Upper Palatinate, there was one at Nuremberg that also provided the mayor (Lutz Steinlinger) there. The family is 1984 with the last name bearer Friedrich VI. extinct. Since the loss of Steinling, the Freiherrn von Steinling were Bavarian and Hessian generals and ministers of war .

Messrs. Stromer von Reichenbach, as owners of Hofmark Holnstein, owned single-layer goods here (open Hofmark). In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Official description of the coat of arms

Coat of arms of Edelsfeld
Blazon : “A growing silver church with a tower and apse in black; in front a golden ear of barley and behind a golden palm branch. "

Meaning of the symbols

The church motif in the coat of arms refers to the Romanesque church of St. Joseph (12th century) in the Niederärndt district, which later served as a simultaneous church . In the normal year of 1555, the sovereigns were two brothers, one of whom was Protestant and one Roman Catholic; according to the principle of cuius regio, eius religio , the church became simultaneous. It should symbolize the togetherness of the entire population. The barley ear indicates the cultivation of malting barley in the community, the palm branch refers to the St. Stephen's patronage of the church.

Edelsfeld is a founding member of the Working Group Obere Vils-Ehenbach (AOVE GmbH), an association of now nine municipalities for cooperation and joint development in the region.
