history

Ebermannsdorf castle ruins
Ebermannsdorf Castle

Today's community Ebermannsdorf was once the ancestral seat of the noble family of Ebermannsdorf, who were first mentioned in 1079. The octagonal residential tower of their Eberburg castle is still preserved.

In 1123 a Razo von Ebermannsdorf and 1129 a landlord from Ebermannsdorf appeared in documents of the Ensdorf monastery . 1309 the family with Albert von Ebermannsdorf should have died out. In 1364 a Dietrich Tanlacher and in 1464 and 1476 a Jacob Kemnater was named.

The Fuchsstein family inherited the Kemnaths in Ebermannsdorf around 1480. Johann Fuchssteiner, Chancellor of Count Palatine Friedrich, was imprisoned in Amberg for improper mediation and for promoting a conspiracy . The former gate tower of the Pfalzgrafenschloss (today's district office of the Amberg-Sulzbach district), in which the chancellor was held for two years, still bears the name Fuchssteiner .

As early as 1480, a second manor was mentioned below the old castle, which was held by von Löfen (Loefen) in the 17th and early 18th centuries. This was followed by Johann Joseph Freiherr von Dürr (Dyrr), who probably built the current castle using the old walls. It is the landmark and center of Ebermannsdorf. Since 1965 it has been owned by a branch of the von Eyb family .

On April 1, 1971, the previously independent communities Pittersberg and Diebis were incorporated into the community of Ebermannsdorf .

The place Pittersberg is said to have originated between 1200 and 1300. The original name was probably Pütasberg (pütens = source), i.e. Quellenberg. The town's landmark is the parish church, which was built in 1458. After looting and fires, the place was uninhabited for almost 70 years. It was not until 1706 that the parish and the church were rebuilt in the baroque style.

According to finds in the near and far surroundings of Diebis, the area must have been populated by humans very early, which is documented by finds from the younger Stone Age . A road from the Vilstal to Bohemia is said to have passed through the village .

With the dissolution of the community-free area Freihölser Forst on March 1, 2005, a part of the community area was added.

religion

The place Ebermannsdorf belongs on the Catholic side to the parish Theuern -Ebermannsdorf. The Protestant Christians belong to the Protestant parish of Rieden .

In Ebermannsdorf there are two cemeteries, the old castle church (named after John the Baptist), the Catholic parish church of Brother Konrad (built in 1981) and a Protestant parish hall.

The place Pittersberg with the parish parts of Diebis, Ipflheim, Frauenlohe, Breitenbrunn and Au belongs to the parish of Pittersberg, to which the adjacent parts of the district of Schwandorf also belong. In Pittersberg there is a parish church and a cemetery.

Official description of the coat of arms

Coat of arms of Ebermannsdorf
Blazon : “Divided; at the top split by silver and blue, in front a growing, red and silver clad St. Nicholas, who is holding a golden crosier in his right hand and a black book with three golden spheres in his left, three vertical, floating silver diamonds in the back, a silver-armored black boar below in gold. "
Justification of the coat of arms: The depicted St. Nicholas indicates the patron saint of the parish church St. Nicholas in the Pittersberg district. The three diamonds come from the family coat of arms of the Barons von Loefen and are an example of the various noble families who owned the Hofmark Ebermannsdorf over the years . At the same time, the lozenges indicate the territorial rule of the Wittelsbachers . The boar in the lower part of the coat of arms indicates the community name as a "talking" symbol.
