The by Dürr (also drought or Doerr ) was an out of Krain derived Austrian noble family , which was first mentioned in 1388 and became extinct late 16th century.

history

The first known member of the family was the knight Berchtold von der Dürr , who signed a certificate in 1388. Shortly afterwards Niklas von der Dürr was mentioned in a document. In 1418 he and his sons Berchtold, Georg and Friedrich were enfeoffed by Hermann Graf zu Cilli with some properties near Oberburg .

In the years 1478 and 1479, Johann (also: Hanns ) von der Dürr was the first member of the family to be named Edler Hanns von der Dürr zu Pernstein and Ternberg .

Jakob von Dürr was pledge holder in Forchtenstein at the time of the settlement of today's Burgenland Croats and is said to have played a major role in this.

The last two members of the family died in 1583 with the brothers Sigismund Andreas and Johann Jakob von der Dürr as owners of the Dornau estate and the Thalberg estate near Zilli .

Blazon : The coat of arms of the von der Dürr consists of a quartered shield . The first and fourth red fields show a white hand that is turned with the surface outwards, which is pierced with a semicircular iron hook, which in turn protrudes at the bottom with a half curve. The second and third silver fields have a single red crossing on the right from above , which forms a square of honor ( Quadrans honorarius ) . Two crowned open helmets stand over the coat of arms: on the first stand two red eagle wings spread out and each of them has one of the white hands described above in the middle ; On the second helmet there are two buffalo horns turned outwards , each tinged alternately twice in red and twice in silver in opposite colors. The helmet cover is consistently red and silver.

After those of the Dürr died out, the coat of arms passed through an inheriting daughter by marriage to the barons of Schrattenbach (noble family) .
