history

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg .

Later under the Romans, today's Trausdorf was then in the province of Pannonia .

The place was destroyed by the Turks in 1529 and 1532. This was followed by a new settlement by Croats.

Trausdorf (on the right at 3 o'clock position) around 1873 (recording sheet of the regional survey )

Trausdorf an der Wulka, like all of Burgenland, belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 . Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Darázsfalu be used. After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ).

In 1936 the armed forces built an airfield, which was taken over by the armed forces in 1938 and used until the end of the war. Flight operations were then discontinued. It was not until 1957 that the Union Sportflieger Club started flying at the airfield, which is approved for small and glider planes. There were two runways, 1,100 and 800 meters long. For this purpose, land was leased from the Urbarialgemeinde . Hangars and a night flight facility were built, which increased flight operations. A tower was also built. Due to the noise, the lease was no longer extended. So it came to the complete closure of the square in 1994 after years of legal dispute.

Economy and Infrastructure

Public facilities

The Trausdorf Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1889. Even when it was founded, the volunteer fire brigade had its own manual pressure sprayer . This was housed in the old syringe house on Obere Hauptstrasse. In 1968 a new fire station was built in Magdalenagasse and the old syringe house was demolished in 1975.

The first fire truck was purchased in 1977 with the support of the municipality and the state government. The fire brigade later received a small fire engine . Since the fire station was too small on the one hand and no longer complied with the safety regulations on the other hand, the old one was demolished in 1993 and a new fire station was built at the same location.

Most recently, a new, modern tank fire engine and a small fire engine were purchased so that the fire brigade's equipment corresponds to the latest technical standards. The Trausdorf fire brigade has a hydraulic rescue kit which is used to free vehicle passengers trapped in accident wrecks. The fire brigade is also equipped with six breathing apparatus .

Every year the fire brigade provides a number of fire safety guards at the Seefestspiele in Mörbisch and at the Opera Festival in St. Margarethen.
