Helmut Gekle

Helmut Gekle (born October 10, 1959 in Knittelfeld , Styria) is an Austrian author .

Life

Gekle spent his childhood in his native Knittelfeld, in 1980 he moved to Graz . In 2003 he moved to Eisenstadt , and has lived in Trausdorf an der Wulka in Burgenland since 2006 .

Until 1989 he was a temporary officer , among other things he wrote for troop and club newspapers. Then he was press officer at the University of Graz and head of the service of the science magazine “UNIZEIT” and the communications journal “ESPRESSO”. In the years 1995 to 2000 Gekle had several missions abroad for the armed forces and was editor-in-chief of the troop newspaper "AUSBLATT-Splitter". In December 2002 he became head of the “Support & Public Relations” department at the Austria Armed Forces International Center in Götzendorf an der Leitha .

For his work as a curator for art events for the Austrian Armed Forces, he received the Silver Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria in 2010 .
