Albrecht Greule

Albrecht Greule (* 13. April 1942 in Buhl ) is a German germanistischer linguist , name researcher and medievalist . He is a professor emeritus for German linguistics at the University of Regensburg .

Life

Albrecht Greule attended elementary school and grammar school in Bühl. From 1962 to 1971 he studied Germanic and Classical Philology as well as Indo-European Linguistics at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . During this time he worked as a freelancer for the Badische Neuesten Nachrichten in Karlsruhe. In 1971, with his dissertation on the subject of first and early Germanic river names on the Upper Rhine, he was awarded Dr. phil. PhD . He then worked as a research assistant, academic advisor, private lecturer and adjunct professor at the University of Mainz , where he also received his habilitation in 1979. In 1992 he became Professor of German Linguistics at the University of Regensburg, and in 2007 he received the title of Senior Professor.
