Sheepworld (dt. Schafwelt , founded 1997) is one of the largest German gift companies with Europe-wide sales and the headquarters in Ursensollen . The motif without you , which appeared in 2004, is particularly well-known .
history
The company was founded by Stefanie Rölz and Tobias Hiltl in 1997. The two met in a summer job after graduating from high school. Since Rölz liked to draw comic motifs, the two only 19-year-olds decided to set up a small distribution company, which was initially called Steff Productions and was based in their parents' cellar.
Just three years later, the company developed into a millionaire company with around 50 employees. Due to the growth, the goods are even available from the United Kingdom to the United Arab Emirates .
In 2001, Sheepworld achieved a share of 6.7% of the total turnover with its products for the sheep Sille, Søren and Sisqo at the toy supplier and plush toy manufacturer NICI , which corresponds to a value of 4.8 million euros.
In 2005 the company expanded again, achieved a turnover of 23 million and employed 60 people.
In 2007 the special model “sheepworld” Renault Twingo was sold throughout Germany at a price from 12,999 euros. A special feature of the special model was the special discount of 1,000 euros that Sheepworld AG granted every buyer of the Twingo for a used plush sheep, and the overnight stay with breakfast in a country inn for buyers who wanted to pick up their car themselves.
In May 2008, the enlarged office complex was finally completed and occupied. Another milestone in the same year was the expansion of the product range to include the automotive industry. In the 2011 financial year, the total turnover of Sheepworld AG fell from 16 million euros to 12.5 million euros (2010). At the end of 2011, Sheepworld had 52 employees, including seven trainees.
The company sees opportunities for future corporate development in positioning itself more broadly in terms of the product range and, in addition to sheep products, further licenses, such as B. Blinies or Not funny to buy and market them. The aim is to transform the company into a multibrand company . Based on statements by an affected licensor, it is doubtful whether these hopes will be fulfilled.
Products
There are now over 1500 different products in the gift items sector and in the publishing industry, including all kinds of goods such as coffee cups, cuddly toys, postcards or books. The products are available from retailers as well as from major mail order companies such as Otto-Versand , auto accessories suppliers such as Auto -teile-Unger (ATU) (seat covers) and drugstores such as Rossmann ( bathroom scales from Söhnle ). According to Jana Blaschka, Sheepworld convinces with its products with a constant appearance with harmonious designs and a solid selection of products.
Refugee aid controversy
At the beginning of July 2019, Human Blood - a distributor of Statement Wear against Discrimination - published a blog article in which the decision of Human Blood founder Benjamin Hartmann was announced to discontinue the cooperation with Sheepworld AG with immediate effect and everyone achieved so far from this cooperation Donate profits to sea rescue. The reason given was that Tobias Hiltl, director of Sheepworld AG, was inciting against refugees on his private Facebook profile. Opposite the Amberger Zeitung , Hiltl defended himself against the accusation of being a racist. He did not deny his Facebook posts. Hiltl described himself as "liberal-conservative", he was far from being a supporter of the AfD. The Human Blood label was particularly praised for its actions on social media. In a press release, Sheepworld AG stated that Hiltl's “private statements of opinion” were not a position of the company.
