On the Habsberg there is the church Maria Heil der Kranken , a chapel of grace and a diocesan youth house of the diocese of Eichstätt . history

Already in the 11th century by the Count of Sulzbach - Kastl-Habsberg the castle Habsberg built, remains one of the cistern is preserved. The castle was part of a network of castles and also served to protect against recurring raids from the Bohemian region. The castle was destroyed in the 14th century.

The founder of the pilgrimage to the Habsberg was a Johannes Panzer , court clerk of Count Tilly , from Helfenberg Castle near Lengenfeld . In 1680 he had a chapel with a votive tablet built on the Habsberg from the remains of the castle ruins to thank him for his healing from gout . The chapel was completed in 1682 and soon attracted many pilgrims .

In 1731 this chapel was demolished and a larger one was built for it. This was inaugurated on September 13, 1747. In the years 1761–1773, today's Rococo pilgrimage church Maria Heil der Kranken was built according to a design by the Munich elector master mason Leonhard Matthäus Giessl . In 1764 the Upper Palatinate painter Johann Michael Wild created the ceiling fresco of the sanctuary of the Habsberg pilgrimage church.

In 1961 a youth center was built, which was rebuilt several times. Halfway up there is a forest cemetery.

organ

The Funtsch organ

In 1767, Johann Conrad Funtsch from Amberg built one of his largest works here; it has largely been preserved. Klais carried out a thorough restoration in 1972 and Kuhn overhauled it in 2004 . The scope of the manual works and the pedal as well as the action mechanism have remained almost unchanged. All wooden registers have survived, the metal registers except for Mixtur minor, Gamba and Salicional. The Principal 8 ′ was not melted down during the First World War . Today's disposition (short octave) is:
