Oberweiling is a district of the city of Velburg with about 60 inhabitants (as of 2013) in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

Oberweiling is located in the Upper Palatinate Jura about three kilometers from Velburg on the Schwarzen Laber . The village of Finsterweiling is adjacent

history

The place was first mentioned in a document on November 20, 1002 in a document from Emperor Heinrich II.

In the Kingdom of Bavaria , the Oberweiling tax district was formed around 1810 , to which, in addition to Oberweiling, the settlements Finsterweiling , Froschau, Haumühle , Hollerstetten and Reckenhofen belonged. With the community edict of May 15, 1818, it became the rural community of Oberweiling, to which the rural community of Altenveldorf was affiliated in 1830 . Before 1900 the places Neumühle, Neuöd, Obermühle, Oberweiling, Regenfußmühle and Schallermühle were added.

On January 1, 1972, during the municipal reform, the previously independent municipality of Oberweiling was incorporated into the city of Velburg.

Life

The Oberweiling volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help. In the village there is the old parish church of St. Mary's Birth and a schoolhouse, which also served as the town hall for the then Oberweiling community and has been used as a cabaret called " Kneipenbühne " since the 1970s after a large school was built in Velburg .
