Several spellings are known for Prönsdorf, including Prunicheristorf, Preuenstorf, Pruennerstorf, Poumerstorf, Priesnstorf, Prämertstorft. The estate of the village belonged to two lords, the lower village to the Pfaffenhofen office and the upper village to the Helfenberg lordship ; the border went right through the shepherd's house; a landmark used to be in the hallway. 1034 was the Regensburg monastery of St. Emmeram a Hube given to "Prunichistorf". 1305 came the place with the Hirschberg inheritance to Bavaria. In 1372 Ulrich Schenck von Reicheneck sold 5 goods at "Prunerstorf", which he had acquired from the Ehrenfelsers in Helfenberg, to Count Palatine Ruprecht , and in 1374 another good. In 1399 a farm and an estate of the Kastl monastery at “Prunersdorf” were also transferred to the Count Palatine; however, the monastery still had an estate in the village, as mentioned in 1583. Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , around 1800, Prönsdorf consisted of 14 properties belonging to the Helfenberg rulership, a half yard belonging to the Pilsach court , an eighth yard (the "Kienzlhof") belonging to the Landalmosenstiftung Nürnberg and a half yard that paid interest to the Velburg care office.

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806), tax districts were initially formed from several locations. The tax district Prönsdorf in the district court Parsberg (the later district Parsberg), the two villages Prönsdorf and Albertshofen , the hamlets Bernla and Richthofen as well as the wasteland (and pilgrimage) Habsberg belonged . With the second Gemeindeedikt from 1818 of these control district was the Rural community Prönsdorf, wherein the remote area Habsberg is not mentioned. This remained until the regional reform in Bavaria , when the municipality was incorporated into the city of Velburg on January 1, 1972. Since then, Prönsdorf has been an officially named district of Velburg.

The children from the entire municipality of Prönsdorf have been going to school in the parish village of Prönsdorf since the 19th century at the latest. A new school building was built there in 1911.
