from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ruprecht Niclas Kitzkatz came from the Bohemian town of Eger and was a die cutter and medalist at the Dresden mint from 1616 to 1633 .

Kitzkatz worked, among others, for Elector Johann Georg I of Saxony . So he created a medal that Johann Georg I gave to his councilors (1617) as well as a large thaler and several medals showing the elector on horseback (1624/1626). Kitzkatz produced other medals for the anniversary of the Augsburg Confession with Duke Johann Casimir von Sachsen-Gotha (1630) and on the occasion of the death of Gustav II Adolf (1632). He sometimes used the monogram “RNK” or a small round e in the lettering.
