history

The former school building at Pfarrweg 6, in which the "pub stage" has been located since 1981.

The location was created after the Hertleins' Nuremberg flat share (a total of six men and three women) acquired the old school house at Pfarrweg 6, which was used as such until 1968. After the most important renovation and expansion work, a cabaret for live events and film screenings as well as a sound studio were planned from the start. After a very short time, five of the original nine members left the Grundkunstbühne project , as the location was initially called. The previous owner had previously failed with his concept of an "artist's cave".

The remainder of the Nuremberg flat share, including Hanne and Roland Hertlein, then opened the pub stage in September 1981. The non-profit cultural association was founded in February 1982. This originally consisted of ten founding members and today has over 100 members. In 1988, Golly Hertlein founded the associated recording studio, which bears the name Knopfstudio . The program booklet, which was published for three years, was also called “Der Knopf”.

Even in the early years, artists appeared in the restaurant who were known far beyond the regional borders or who later became known, including Ralf Huwendiek , Wolfgang Haffner , Ottfried Fischer , Bernd Schütz , Horst W. Blome , Uwe Kropinski , Argile , Cahoots , Freddy Freeloader Group , Gabi Lodermeier , Bernd Regenauer and many more. After the turn of the millennium, only Hanne and Roland Hertlein were left of the original Nuremberg residents.

In autumn 2009 the “pub stage” was awarded the culture prize of the Upper Palatinate district. On November 20, 2010, the 1,000th concert was held on the “pub stage”, at which Hertlein himself appeared with his band Breeze The Creaze . Lizzy Aumeier led through the program of the 30th anniversary celebration in 2011 in the Reitstadel and also gave the laudatory speech.
