Ursulapoppenricht is a part of the municipality Hahnbach in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

origin of the name

The place name Ursulapoppenricht is made up of the two components "Ursula" and "Poppenricht". In order to distinguish the place from the not far away Michaelpoppenricht , now Poppenricht , the names of the church patrons Ursula and Michael were put in front of the actual place names. In earlier times - when the place did not yet have the addition "Ursula" - Ursulapoppenricht appears as "Bobmried" or in 1519 as "Popenriede". It is a combination of the Middle High German "advised", which means "land made fertile through clearing", with the old German personal name "Poppo" (in the genitive "Poppen"). This is the name of the first settler on the cleared piece of land. The place name Poppenricht originally meant "Poppo settlement on cleared land".

history

On January 1, 1972, the former municipality of Ursulapoppenricht was incorporated into Hahnbach.
