Weiher is a district of the town of Hirschau in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria , previously Weiher was an independent municipality.
origin of the name
The place name Weiher refers to the name Weiher for a small still water. As early as 1339 Weiher was mentioned as "Weyaern" and in 1364 as "Weyer". In 1424 there was talk of a farm "zu den Wyhern". In 1450 the spelling “Weyer”, 1569 “Weiern”, 1668 “Weyhern” and 1792 “Weyhr” is documented.
geography
Weiher is located in the southern municipality of the city of Hirschau. According to the register of the town of Hirschau, the districts in the area have 147 inhabitants, including the former municipality capital Weiher 121 and Kricklhof 26.
Pond is surrounded by Hirschau and Schnaittenbach in the north and Kemnath am Buchberg in the east. Freudenberg is to the south and Steiningloh to the west .
history
By the first Bavarian community edict, Weiher was assigned to the tax district and the district court of Amberg and thus to the Naab district in 1808 . After the Naabkreis was dissolved in favor of the Mainkreis and the Regenkreis , Weiher was assigned to the Regenkreis in 1810 together with the Amberg District Court (from 1838 Upper Palatinate and Regensburg).
By the second Bavarian municipal edict, Weiher became an independent political municipality in 1818.
In contrast to the current district within the city of Hirschau, the former municipality of Weiher extended much further north in the eastern area (originally an exclave , later with a direct connection) and also included the coffin mill and the temporary (around 1950) neighboring town of Schnaittenbach to the northeast Scharhof, today the district of Hirschau. The districts of Haidhof and Haidmühle were added to the town of Schnaittenbach when the community of Weiher was dissolved on April 1, 1972. After this cut, the community had an area of 931.95 hectares, while the current district area is only 891.23 hectares.
Religions
Weiher has belonged to the Pursruck parish since 1773 . By a referendum in 1980 Weiher returned to the parish of Hirschau .
