Hölzlmühle south of the Ehenfeld district in the district of the same name

Hölzlmühle is a part of the municipality ( wasteland ) of the town of Hirschau ( district Ehenfeld , until December 31, 1970 Ehenfeld municipality) on the edge of the Rothenstetter Bürgerwald in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria . The isolated settlement is to the east (left) of the Ehenbach, which flows here from north to south . The mill dams the Kindlasbrunnenbach coming from the east almost 100 meters before its confluence with the Ehenbach.

origin of the name

The place name Hölzlmühle comes from a family name Hölzl rather than from the diminutive of wood, which stands for wood or forest in the Upper Palatinate dialect. Over the years the place name has only changed slightly; the place is mentioned as Hölzlmühl as early as 1602. In 1723 and 1792, the spelling Hölzlmüll can be proven, each belonging to Hirschau.
