The place name Waldmühle can be read as a mill by the forest. In 1562 the forest mill is mentioned as Waltmül, 1630 as Waldtmühl and 1773 as Waldmühl.

history

Originally the forest mill was part of the community of Forst , which was dissolved on October 1, 1938 and largely incorporated into Schnaittenbach . Only the forest mill was incorporated into Hirschau.
