Hummelmühle is a district of the town of Hirschau in the Amberg-Sulzbach district in Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

origin of the name

The name Hummelmühle comes either from the old word for forest bee or from the old word for breeding animal. In 1723 the Hummelmühle was mentioned as "Humblmüll uf der Oedt Pümpach", in 1773 as "Hümblmühl" and in 1792 as "Humlmühl".

geography

Natural allocation

Hummelmühle is located in the north of the Upper Palatinate hill country . Since sheet 154/155 Bayreuth of the single sheets 1: 200,000 for the manual of the natural spatial structure of Germany has not been published, there is no detailed breakdown for the northern part of the Upper Palatinate hill country .

In relevant specialist literature, the geological subunit in which Rödlas is located is referred to as the Kohlberger ridges .

history

The Hummelmühle was rebuilt in 1721.

Before the first Bavarian community edict from 1808, the Hummelmühle was always mentioned as belonging to the Hirschau district.

By the first Bavarian community edict, Massenricht was assigned to the tax district and the district court of Amberg and thus to the Naab district . Hummelmühle was assigned to Massenricht. After the Naabkreis was dissolved in favor of the Mainkreis and the Regenkreis , Massenricht was assigned to the Regenkreis in 1810 together with the Amberg District Court (from 1838 onwards, Upper Palatinate and Regensburg ). The second Bavarian community edict made Massenricht an independent political community in 1818 and the Hummelmühle part of it.

On May 1, 1978, the Hummelmühle was incorporated into the town of Hirschau as part of the community of Massenricht, together with the places Massenricht, Obersteinbach , Untersteinbach and the hamlets of Rödlas and Träglhof as part of the municipal reform.

Religions

The religious confusion of the 16th and 17th centuries also affected the area around the Hummelmühle. It can be assumed that the residents of the Hummelmühle, which has always belonged to the Benefice and later to the Ehenfeld branch , changed denominations several times. In 1628, the Hummelmühle together with Ehenfeld finally became Catholic.

Ehenfeld is still independent as a parish, but has formed a pastoral care unit with Hirschau since 2003.

Attractions

Hummelmühlmarterl

The Hummelmühlmarterl ( location ) is directly at the Hummelmühle property on the opposite side of the street.

The Marterl consists of a one meter high sandstone column on which there is a richly decorated iron cross with a Christ body. The cross is covered by a sheet metal arch as weather protection. At the foot of the cross there was a holder for floral decorations. This has been lost over time.

The Marterl reminds of the murder of the teacher and judge Johann Georg Joseph Kahl from Kohlberg on September 29, 1844. Kahl was stabbed to death at this point on the way home from the parish fair in Ehenfeld. The perpetrator was a "Scheffler", probably a servant from Kohlberg or Röthenbach, who acted out of revenge for an unpopular decision. In the weekly newspaper of the city of Amberg no. 42 of October 16, 1844 there is an obituary for Kahl.

traffic

The Hummelmühle can be reached via a side street from Obersteinbach .

The nearest train stations are in Freihung (8 km), Röthenbach (6 km), Wernberg-Köblitz (18 km) and Amberg (24 km).
