Kemnath am Buchberg is a district and a district in the town of Schnaittenbach in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

The district of Kemnath am Buchberg and thus also the town of Kemnath am Buchberg, which is within the district, are located in the southern municipality of the city of Schnaittenbach . The eponymous 667 meter high Buchberg is a good two kilometers west of the town.
history
Kemnath am Buchberg was first mentioned in a document in 1150 in connection with the naming of a "Gottfridus Plebanus de Chemenaten" as a people pastor of Kemnath. The parish itself was first attested to in 1483.
Kemnath was badly hit by bombs at the end of World War II on April 20, 1945, shortly before the American troops marched in, and a large part of the houses and buildings were destroyed. The church was also badly damaged. The tower was completely destroyed.
On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Kemnath am Buchberg was incorporated into the city of Schnaittenbach.

Kemnath am Buchberg is connected to local public transport via two bus routes. These are RBO line 44 between Neuersdorf and Nabburg via Schnaittenbach ( VGN line 444) and RBO line 74 between Götzendorf or Mertenberg and Schnaittenbach.
The nearest train stations are in Wernberg-Köblitz (9 km), Nabburg (12 km) and in Amberg (20 km).
