Hiltersdorf is a district of the municipality of Freudenberg in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .
history
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1187 in Ensdorfer documents. In 1263 the village became the property of the Ensdorf monastery before it became the seat of the court box office and muster ground in 1400.
In the early modern times, the place was repeatedly the victim of looting and epidemics. In the years 1618–1648, for example, almost 2/3 of the village population died of the plague or fell in the Thirty Years' War . Hiltersdorf was plundered by imperial hussars in 1707, Austrian Croats robbed and murdered in the village in 1745 and the French set fire to three farms in 1776.
In 1818 Hiltersdorf was finally appointed a municipality, which was merged with the municipality of Freudenberg in 1972 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . In the years before, Hiltersdorf was connected to the Nuremberg – Schwandorf railway line by opening a train station in 1959, which, however, was closed again over time for passenger traffic. In addition, the new St. John's Chapel was inaugurated in 1960, the land consolidation was carried out in 1964 and the place was connected to the water supply in 1967.

Hiltersdorf is located in the Bodenwöhrer chalk bay, which is part of the Upper Palatinate hill and mountain area and thus part of the Upper Palatinate-Upper Main hill country . In the Mesozoic , the Mesozoic , sediments were deposited here , which under the influence of environmental factors became para and brown soils . In addition, the area is very much characterized by Hercynian disturbances.

Religions
Hiltersdorf is a predominantly Roman Catholic village. Ecclesiastically it belongs to the Benefician Paulsdorf, which in turn belongs to the parish of the Holy Trinity in Amberg and is also looked after in pastoral care from there.
Regular events
Every year in summer, two major festivals: So is the annual St. John's after a Mass was celebrated in the early evening in St. John's Chapel, lit a bonfire outside the village after sunset. Almost all residents of the surrounding villages come together for this celebration organized by the volunteer fire brigade.
Furthermore, a village festival is held every year at the end of July on the village square.
The boys' association also organizes a " Kirwa " every year , which is held in the neighboring village of Paulsdorf.

Drinking water production
Hiltersdorf is located in a water protection area in the district of Amberg-Sulzbach . 3/4 of the drinking water for the city of Amberg comes from here , but the water for the old town itself is spring water from the Krumbach stream from the Urspring Forest. The water is extracted from five deep wells in the Hiltersdorf-Paulsdorf-Engelsdorf-Freihölser Forest area and then processed in the Engelsdorf waterworks. With 5 to 7 dH, the water hardness of Hiltersdorf water can be classified as soft.
