Leidling is a district of the Burgheim market in the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen in the administrative district of Upper Bavaria .

geography

Leidling is located in Upper Bavaria in the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen on State Road 2050 between Burgheim and Sinning . Thousands of years ago the Danube flowed through a valley that led via Leidling and Sinning into the Donaumoos . But the Danube dug a different path, so that these valleys dried up over time.

economy

Until the 1970s, agriculture was the most important economic factor in Leidling. From then about 26 full-time farmers are now only five left. There is also a carpenter's shop.

history

Leidling was founded around 600 AD by the immigrant Bavarians . Originally the village was called "the settlement of Luitilo". From the beginning it belonged to the ducal, then to the royal office of Neuburg and thus from 1197 to 1247 to the Pappenheimers . The first documentary mention can be found in the Pappenheimer Urbar. The patronage right of the church passed in 1267 from the Pappenheimers to the Wittelsbachers , who gave it to the Benedictine nuns in Neuburg around 1360. During the Reformation, Leidling became Protestant.

The population has been constant at around 200 since the 1930s.

Until July 1, 1972, the independent community of Leidling belonged to the district of Neuburg an der Donau and then fell to the newly founded district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . On July 1, 1975 it was incorporated into the Burgheim market.

Parish

The Catholic parish of St. Georg is part of the Burgheim parish community. The tower and the southwest corner of the nave of the parish church were built around 1400. The Gothic baptismal font also dates from this time. In the 17th century, the nave with a sign and the sacristy were added. At the same time, the pulpit and the high altar picture of St. George were made. An extensive renovation was completed at the end of 2017.
