history

The place name perhaps goes back to the founder, the person "Humerat-Humprecht". It was first mentioned in 814 as "Humperatshusan" in a deed of donation from the Fulda monastery .

From the 10th century Humprechtshausen belonged to the Henneberg family . In 1230 it came to the Würzburg monastery as a fief and was a Ganerbendorf because of several noble lords . Kreuzthal and the windmill were part of the community.

Initially, Humprechtshausen belonged to the Wettringen parish and then came to the newly founded Mechenried parish and the Rottenstein court. At the beginning of the 17th century, Humprechtshausen had 18 houses and 490 inhabitants. During the Thirty Years' War the village was largely desolate. In 1662 there was a school with a permanent teacher. In 1696 the Würzburg Monastery acquired subjects and rights in Humprechtshausen from Sachsen-Hildburghausen .

In 1862 the rural community of Humprechtshausen, consisting of the two places Humprechtshausen and Kreuzthal, was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Haßfurt . In 1871 the main town of Humprechtshausen had 500 inhabitants. In 1900 the 1,589 hectare rural community had 558 residents, 538 of whom were Catholic and 20 Protestant, and 105 residential buildings. The church village of Humprechtshausen had 474 residents and 90 residential buildings. The responsible Catholic parish was in Mechenried, 4.5 kilometers away; the Catholic denominational school was in town. In 1925 the main town had 440 people and 88 residential buildings. The Protestants belonged to the parish of Rügheim .

In 1950 the church village had 593 residents and 88 residential buildings. In 1961, Humprechtshausen had 460 residents and 96 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 484 and 1987 484 inhabitants and 121 residential buildings with 136 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the Haßfurt district was dissolved as part of the regional reform and Humprechtshausen came to the Haßberg district. On May 1, 1978, the municipality was incorporated into Riedbach. Humprechtshausen became the seat of the mayor.

Since 1997 VfB Humprechtshausen has organized the rock festival Rock im Wald on the forest sports field .
