Hellmut Schöner

Hellmut Schöner (born June 18, 1918 in Munich ; † 2003 in Berchtesgaden ) was a German journalist , translator and non-fiction author and, among other things, the editor of contemporary historical documentation .

Live and act

Hellmut Schöner was the son of Anton Schöner (1866–1930), a Lenbach student and portrait painter who was valued by celebrities of his time . After completing his journalistic training at Berchtesgadener Anzeiger , Hellmut Schöner worked for the Munich newspaper publisher for the Bayerische and Münchner Zeitung . From 1942 he served as a translator for Russian in the Crimea and after the Second World War he translated several Russian books into German, including by Ivan Andreevič Aramilev Jagd in der Taiga , which was translated into English, Spanish and the Scandinavian languages ​​based on his German model. From 1957 he worked for a Munich-based book-export-import company that focused on the entire Slavic region and supplied scientific institutions to the USA. In addition, he made numerous trips to Siberia , Kazakhstan , Murmansk and the Central Asian and Transcaucasian Soviet republics .

From 1960 he was the editor of the Alpine Club Guide for the Berchtesgaden Alps , in 1966 the founder of the “Berchtesgadener Schriftenreihe” published by the Berchtesgadener Land Association for Local History and from 1973 to 1992 chairman of the Berchtesgaden Local History Association . Accordingly, numerous of his publications thematized the mountains and the history of Berchtesgaden and the Berchtesgadener Land .
