Ried is a village in the municipality of Kammeltal in the Swabian district of Günzburg .
location
Ried is located in the southern part of the municipality of Kammeltal at the intersection of the state road St 2024 and the district road GZ 1 east of the Kammel . The neighboring village of Behlingen is directly to the west of the Kammel .
history
In contrast to most of the community of Kammeltal , which belonged to the realm of the realm of Wettenhausen Abbey , Ried belonged at times to the Barons Schenk von Stauffenberg , at times to the rule Eberstall and at times to the rule Neuburg an der Kammel .
The theologian Georg Hösle was born in Ried at the end of 1649 .
In 1806, like the entire area between Iller and Lech, it became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria .
Until 1972 Ried was an independent municipality in the district of Krumbach (Swabia) . When this was dissolved in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , Ried, like most of the municipalities in the Krumbach district, became part of the Günzburg district . Ried and the neighboring community of Behlingen , which also belonged to the district of Krumbach, merged on July 1, 1972 with five communities also located in the Kammeltal , which belonged to the former district of Günzburg, to form the community of Kammeltal .
