history

Ettenbeuren was first mentioned in a document in the 11th century. A written record shows that the place was founded in 955 under the name "Uttonsbüron" (= houses of Utto) as a daughter settlement of Kleinbeuren . The first traces of settlement even date from the Hallstatt period . Large parts of the village belonged to the domain of Wettenhausen Monastery until secularization . At times the place belonged to the margraviate of Burgau . During this time it was given to various fiefdoms, the longest being the Lords of Roth . In 1806 Ettenbeuren, like the entire area between Iller and Lech, became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria .

On July 1, 1972, the municipality of Ettenbeuren, consisting of the main town of the districts Grünhöfe and Reifertsweiler , was combined with other municipalities to form the newly founded municipality of Kammeltal.
