The municipality of El Villar is a district in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of El Villar is one of five municipalities in the Tomina province and includes its southern area. It borders the Municipio Villa Alcalá in the north, the Municipio Sopachuy in the northwest , the Province Azurduy in the west , the Province Hernando Siles in the southeast , and the Municipio Padilla in the northeast .
The municipality extends approximately between 19 ° 31 'and 19 ° 53' south latitude and 64 ° 09 'and 64 ° 26' west longitude, its extent from west to east is up to 30 kilometers, from north to south up to 40 kilometers .
The municipality comprises 114 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the town of El Villar with 979 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the northern half of the district.

The municipality of El Villar is located in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and the Bolivian lowlands.
The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see Padilla climate diagram) and fluctuates only slightly between 15 ° C in June and July and around 20 ° C from November to January.
