The Municipio Villa Alcalá is a district in the Chuquisaca Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Villa Alcalá is one of five municipalities in the Tomina province and is located in the central part of the province. It is bordered by the Municipio Tomina to the northwest , the Municipio Sopachuy to the west, the Municipio El Villar to the south , and the Municipio Padilla to the east .

The municipality has 68 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Alcalá with 1,562 inhabitants in 2012.

The municipality of Villa Alcalá is located at the transition from the Altiplano bounded by the Cordillera Central to the Bolivian lowlands of the Gran Chaco , around 250 kilometers as the crow flies east of Lake Poopó .

The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C, the annual precipitation is around 600 mm. The region does not show a pronounced temperature profile, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only insignificantly between almost 15 ° C in June and July and 20 ° C from November to January. The monthly precipitation is between under 10 mm from May to August and over 100 mm from December to February.
