Kazimierz Bak

Kazimierz Bak (actually Kazimierz Bąk, Polish pronunciation [ kaˈʑimʲɛʃ bɔ̃k ]; born August 31, 1956 ) is a former German ultramarathon runner of Polish origin.

He celebrated his greatest success in 1994 at the 100 km World Cup of the IAU , which took place in Kitami as part of the Saroma Lake 100 km ultramarathon . There he took third place and with his time of 6:24:29 h set a German record in the 100-kilometer run that has remained unbroken to this day (as of January 2015). Bak passed the 50 km mark in 2:59:51 hours and was the first German runner to break the 3-hour mark at this distance. He also won the team championship of the World Cup together with Lutz Aderhold and Michael Sommer .

Bak was also twice German champion in the 100 kilometer run (1994 and 1996) and won the GutsMuths Rennsteig run in 1994 on the super marathon route (72.7 km) .

Kazimierz Bak started for the Pegnitz Hersbruck marathon team. His wife Maria is also successful in the ultra marathon.
