Saroma Lake 100K Ultramarathon

The Saroma Lake 100 km Ultramarathon ( Japanese サ ロ マ 湖 100km ウ ル ト ラ マ ラ ソ ン , Saroma-ko-100-km-urutora-marason ) is an ultramarathon along the Japanese Saroma Lake , which has been running since 1986. He is known for the world records in the 100 km road race that were achieved here. The time limit is 13 hours. The competition also includes a 50 km run.

route

The point-to-point course begins in Yūbetsu at the western end of Lake Saroma , the largest inland lake in Hokkaidō , and initially leads to a turning point on the spit that separates it from the Sea of Okhotsk . Then it goes along the south bank of the lake via Saroma to the east end of the lake, where another turning point section follows on the spit before the finish at the Tokoro sports center in Kitami . The route is paved throughout and relatively flat with a height of approx. 150 meters .

The 50 km run starts in Saroma and joins the main route after 20 km on the eastern shore of the lake.

history

In 1994 and 2005 the IAU 100 km World Cup was held as part of this event. In 1994 Kazimierz Bak set the current German 100 km record as third and won gold with the German team, in 2005 the German men won bronze, while the DLV women came fourth.
