Takahiro Sunada

Takahiro Sunada ( Japanese 砂 田 貴 裕 , Sunada Takahiro ; born January 19, 1973 ) is a former Japanese marathon and ultramarathon runner .

In 1992, he presented with 2:15:30 hours in Hōfu the current Japanese junior record in the marathon. In 1995 he won the silver medal behind Douglas Wakiihuri in 2:13:16 at the IAAF World Cup marathon in Athens . In the same year he was tenth in the Fukuoka Marathon in 2:12:01 and in 1996 there was ninth in 2:13:01.

In 1998 he set the then world record in the 100 km road race at the Saroma Lake Ultramarathon with 6:13:33 h . This was only beaten 20 years later in the same place by his compatriot Nao Kazami . In 1999 he won the bronze medal in the IAU 100 km World Cup at the 100 km de Vendée ( Chavagnes-en-Paillers ) in 6:26:06 and was eighth in Fukuoka in 2:11:03.

In 2000 he ran the 100 km run in Belvès with 6:17:17 the fourth-best time ever over this distance and was fourth in the Berlin Marathon in his personal best of 2:10:07.
