Kitami ( Japanese 北 見 市 , - shi ) is a city in the Okhotsk sub-prefecture on the island of Hokkaidō ( Japan ).

geography

Kitami is east of Sapporo , west of Abashiri and north of Kushiro on the Sea of ​​Okhotsk .

traffic

The Kitami Station is located on the Sekihoku Main Line of JR Hokkaido ; Trains run to Asahikawa and Abashiri . The Furusato Ginga line to Ikeda was shut down in 2006.

The city can be reached via national roads 39, 238, 242 and 333.

Sports

Every year since 1986 along the Saroma Lake of Lake Saroma-100-km ultramarathon through the communities Yubetsu , Saroma and Kitami instead.
