Rumoi ( Japanese 留 萌 市 , - shi ) is a city and the administrative seat of the Japanese sub-prefecture Rumoi in Hokkaidō prefecture .
geography
It is located in the north of the country on the island of Hokkaidō almost 100 kilometers north of Sapporo and about 50 kilometers west of Asahikawa on the coast of the Sea of Japan .
history
Rumoi was made Shi on October 1, 1947 .

The Rumoi Station is located on the by JR Hokkaido operated Rumoi Main Line . This leads Fukagawa via Rumoi to Mashike .
The city can be reached via the national roads 231, 232 and 233.
